Changing the URL of your docs to change how others see it

When you share a doc with others, you don't have to give them the exact URL. Instead, you can manipulate the address by changing the end. *Note: item must be public for this to work.

Here are three examples and ways to do each, as well as an example for how I am using today.

Preview Mode (gets rid of the toolbar at the top so others can't make a copy, it also gets rid of showing who all is on it - Great for parents or info you don't want others duplicating)

Make a Copy Mode (forces person to make a copy to view - may not want Classroom doing, see how I am using below)

Template Mode (forces person to use the template, see blue button at top right, also eliminates all the "copy of" mess)

Why this came up today and how I am using?
Below is a link to a post about this, which reminded me about learning this at the Google Summit. It was also timely since I was figuring out a presentation for 9th graders tomorrow and how to transition to their outline.
My 9th graders are learning about intros and conclusions in a Pear Deck presentation tomorrow, so at the end of the presentation, I would like them to have a link directly to the outline rather than say "Now, go to Classroom, find the assignment for the outline, and open your copy of this to begin writing your intros." That is too many steps for students to follow and me to keep repeating. Instead, it is super easy to change the URL to either copy or template. If I intend to view them or grade them at some point, then students can just submit to the assignment in Google Classroom.
